But do you know how these mugs are made?Currently, there are basically three methods used to transform standard mugs into color-changing ones: direct printing, water transfer printing, and heat transfer printing.
1. Direct Printing: This involves printing directly onto the mug using a rotary press. This technique is technically challenging; most factories can only print one to three colors. If the design requires precise registration or multiple colors, they are often unable to meet the requirements. However, factories with advanced capabilities can register up to 20 colors without misalignment. This method is only suitable for small-batch production and is very inefficient, as it can only print solid color blocks; printing photos is quite difficult.2. Water Transfer Printing: This involves first printing onto water transfer paper using a printing press, which allows for a rich color palette and is suitable for mass production. However, it requires a highly controlled environment with constant temperature and humidity to ensure printing accuracy. After printing, the water transfer paper is placed in water to separate the design from the paper, and the design is then transferred onto the cup and baked to complete the product.3. Heat Transfer Printing: The process is essentially the same as water transfer printing. The printed heat transfer paper is heated and pressed onto the cup using a machine. In water transfer printing, the application of the design relies entirely on manual labor, whereas heat transfer printing is automated.
